About Jabiru

Beginning and Growing

Jabiru Community, Youth and Children’s Services Association Inc is a community-based not-for-profit organisation started by a group of mums who wanted something for their kids to do in Bracken Ridge in the September school holidays in 1986.

Over the years we have grown, but we haven’t forgotten our roots. As well as operating outside school hours care services in more than 20 schools, Jabiru employs a team of youth workers who undertake community development activities on Brisbane’s northside.

Communities for Belonging

In 2012 we opened a fee-free college supporting 60 young people who need a flexible approach so they can complete their secondary school education. This work is vital for the wellbeing and prospects of some young people who need extra support to succeed.

Our work with disadvantaged families and young people shows us that communities are incredibly important. In all our work, including our outside school hours care services, we emphasise community and belonging.
