The connections we build with our children and communities last long beyond the time they are with us, as Sashi Ritchie positively reflects.

Some of my most touching moments have been reconnecting with our previous Year 6 children who had once been part of our OSHC program. Even years later, when they’re in high school, they stop by the service with their parents or spot us at the shops or school events and say hello. 

Hearing them share how their time at Jabiru—sometimes four or five years ago—shaped their love of learning makes me incredibly proud. It shows me that the connection we build with each child and family truly lasts.

I’ve always believed that children grow and learn by watching us, the Educators. When we show up as good role models, providing quality programs in a fun, welcoming environment, they absorb that. When we take time to connect with families, understand each child’s needs, and celebrate their uniqueness, it makes all the difference.

Those moments of recognition—when they still remember and value what we shared years ago—are powerful reminders that the bonds we form at Jabiru are not just for today, but for life.
